Banat belongs to Serbia and Romania nowadays; however, some of its villages can be found on Hungarian territory. The most important name in the area is definitely the Recaş Winery and the Recaş DOC in Romania, although the Banat DOC area around Buzias is also interesting in terms of its past and hopefully also its future. Crossing the border into Serbia, the most interesting wine region is around Vrsac. German settlers from Alsace produced amazing Gewurztraminers and Rieslings here, however  the Banat Riesling was also an interesting variety.
