Heat some oil in a saucepan, add the sugar and cook until it caramelises. Add the cabbage and cook over high heat, stirring continuously. Season with a pinch of salt and some black pepper. Cook until the liquid has completely evaporated and the cabbage is nicely browned.

Meanwhile, cook the pasta in salted boiling water and then mix with the cabbage. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius. Pour the mixture into a heat-resistant dish and bake for 15 minutes. Serve it sweet, with lots of icing powder, or savoury, by adding more black pepper.
